Our Medical Strategy team, part of our Medical Craft, shapes how scientific insights inform brand and business decisions. The team translates complex clinical data into clear strategic direction that resonates with healthcare audiences. They collaborate closely with Strategy and Creative to ensure messaging is medically sound and insight-driven. Their work helps brands communicate value with clarity, relevance, and credibility.

Job Description

As a VP, Medical Strategy, this role leads the integration of scientific insight into brand strategy and execution across multiple client engagements. This position partners with cross-functional teams including Strategy, Creative, and Client Services to ensure work is grounded in clinical accuracy and aligned to business objectives. The role also contributes to new business efforts and helps shape the agency’s medical offerings through thought leadership and strategic guidance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead development of medical strategy deliverables including scientific narratives, brand positioning, and content frameworks in collaboration with Strategy and Creative teams
  • Provide scientific and clinical guidance on promotional materials, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client objectives and regulatory considerations
  • Partner with Client Services and senior client stakeholders to present medical perspectives and influence brand and business decisions
  • Drive new business contributions by developing medical strategy sections for RFPs and participating in pitch presentations
  • Manage and mentor a team of medical strategists, supporting performance, development, and delivery across multiple brands

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience in medical strategy within a pharmaceutical or healthcare agency environment, with demonstrated ownership of brand or portfolio strategy
  • Proven experience leading client engagements, including presenting medical strategy and influencing senior client stakeholders in agency settings
  • Experience managing and developing teams, including direct reports, with accountability for performance and delivery outcomes
  • Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, MD, PharmD, or MSc) with demonstrated application of clinical knowledge in marketing or strategy contexts
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, actionable strategic recommendations and deliverables

  • Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done
  • Experience contributing to new business efforts, including RFP development and pitch presentations with measurable impact on outcomes
  • Exposure to omnichannel strategy, content development, or integrated campaign planning within healthcare marketing
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration across Strategy, Creative, and Client Services teams
  • Track record of building strong client relationships and contributing to account growth through medical strategy expertise
