Job Description
The Medical Editor supports scientific accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance across diverse healthcare communications. This role reviews healthcare professional and patient-facing materials, scientific content, reviews data and referencing for accuracy, and supports compliant development of marketing materials. The Medical Editor collaborates with multiple partners within the organization, including Medical Strategy, Creative, Project Management, and Client Services across multiple deliverables and timelines. Work focuses on measurable quality, efficient reviews, consistency across versions, and readiness for the client’s medical/legal/regulatory review.
What You’ll Do
- Edit, proofread, and fact-check medical and patient-facing content for accuracy and readability using internal commenting software.
- Verify claims, data, and citations using primary literature, guidelines, and client-approved reference packages.
- Ensure regulatory guidelines are followed throughout development of marketing assets.
- Partner with cross-functional internal teams to support medical/legal/regulatory review cycles.
- Prepare submission-ready materials (annotated references, change logs, supporting documentation) aligned to applicable review requirements.
- Ensure version control and quality of content as marketing assets move through the creative and build stages.
- Maintain editorial standards (style guides, terminology lists, core claims, citation conventions) and provide editorial guidance to project teams.
Qualifications
Required:
- University degree in life sciences, advanced degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, MSc, or equivalent), plus 1+ years experience in editing scientific information.
- Demonstrated experience in line editing, copyediting, and proofreading.
- Experience building and quality-checking references/annotations for evidence-based claims.
- Experience in support of review workflows, including documented change tracking, versioning, and preparing final deliverables.
- Ability to review and correct scientific data presentation (tables/figures) and ensure consistency within and/or across materials.
Desired:
- Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
- Working knowledge of promotional guidance (e.g., PAAB, OPDP/FDA, Health Canada).
- Experience with document-control or review platforms (e.g., Veeva Vault, SharePoint).
- Experience editing digital/omnichannel deliverables (web, email/CRM, social) with readability and accessibility considerations.
- Agency or in-house medical communications experience supporting multiple brands, indications, or concurrent timelines.
Additional Information
This posting is for an existing vacancy at Klick. The base salary for this position will be CAD 72,000 - 85,000 per year, determined based on several factors such as a candidate’s work location, their unique skill set, education, and prior work experience.
