Role Description and Expectations
As a Studio Artist at Klick, you specialize in print file builds and will be responsible for taking approved creative files and turning them into mechanically sound files. Within the creative services team, you will collaborate with Print Production Managers, Project Managers, Art Directors, Designers, Copywriters, Retouchers, Science & Regulatory, Broadcast Production, and our Digital Librarian to ensure ALL print & static digital files leave the agency production ready.
In the Print Studio, we frame our search and our requirements for the position from our guiding principles of Mastery, Chemistry, and Delivery.
Mastery is the skill required to do the job; it’s being at the top of your game and continually honing it.
- You have 8+ years of experience within an agency print studio.
- Pharma/Healthcare experience is a huge plus.
- You are experienced in Adobe Creative Cloud, primarily in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
- You have a working knowledge of UX/UI applications such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, and XD – not mandatory, but nice to have.
- You are proficient in both Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- You have a solid understanding of both print and digital production best practices.
- You are proficient in composite retouching and have a solid understanding of brand guidelines, system design, and the ability to execute them.
- You have excellent typesetting skills, strong attention to detail, and an understanding of colour theory.
Chemistry is your way; it’s how you interact and relate with others; our clients, suppliers and ourselves.
- Be Optimistic: You are a consummate professional and represent Klick not just creatively but also in experience, insight, and attitude. Always put your best, most positive self forward.
- Be Driven: You are no stranger to pressure and work confidently and independently through difficult situations. Ask questions if something strikes you as odd or out of place. If you have a better way of doing something, offer up your way – just make sure you can support it.
- Be Empathetic: Listen carefully to what someone is trying to tell you. Use your ears, eyes, and “gut instincts” to understand the entire message that they’re communicating. Put aside your own viewpoint and see things from the other person’s perspective. Any problem immersed in empathy becomes soluble.
- Be Trustworthy: Follow through on commitments, show fairness, demonstrate transparency, take responsibility for errors, be constructive and objective, and most of all, give credit where it’s due.
- Be Kind: Engage your ears and listen, be considerate, help out if/when you can, make time to get to know your colleagues, show appreciation, wish someone well. Kindness is contagious.
Delivery is our commitment to doing what we say we will when we say we will. We identify the needs of others and we meet them; ideally we supersede them.
- You build approved creative/design layouts based on provided specs into technically sound production files for both print and static digital applications.
- You have the ability to identify and come up with solutions when the creative does not fit into the required specs, and also have the ability to sell through your idea when you come up with a solution.
- You have the ability to pre-flight your own work for technical accuracy.
- You ensure all deadlines are met and work is done as efficiently and accurately as possible.
- You have a thorough comprehension of timelines and exhibit flawless project execution – from initiation to post-delivery.
- Most importantly, you pride yourself in delivering well built, organized, and error-free final files for print and static digital applications.
