Job Description
This role leads market access strategy through a population-based decision maker (PBDM) lens across multiple biopharma clients. The scope extends beyond traditional payer strategy to include channel and patient services strategy, shaping how therapies are positioned, accessed, and supported across payer, provider, specialty distribution, and patient support ecosystems.
The VP, Market Access Strategy translates market access insights into integrated, system-level strategies that influence coverage, reimbursement, channel design, and post-prescription access and affordability. This includes advancing approaches across payer and organized customer strategy, specialty pharmacy and distribution models, and patient services and HUB programs.
Partnering closely with Medical, Client Services, and cross-functional strategy leaders, this role defines access strategy at the product and portfolio level, ensuring recommendations align to real-world healthcare system dynamics and drive measurable access outcomes. The role also contributes to business growth, team leadership, and the continued evolution of market access offerings across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead population-based market access strategy, integrating payer, provider, and health system perspectives into cohesive client recommendations
- Architect decision maker engagement strategies that shape access across payer organizations, IDNs, and other organized customers
- Translate healthcare policy, reimbursement trends, and stakeholder dynamics into forward-looking strategic frameworks and content platforms
- Define and evolve payer and population health narratives, value propositions, and access strategies across product lifecycles and portfolios
- Serve as a senior advisor to clients, guiding enterprise-level access strategy and ensuring alignment to real-world decision-making environments
- Build and maintain senior client relationships, influencing direction and ensuring delivery of high-impact, insight-driven work
- Mentor team members and contribute to account growth, new business, and the evolution of integrated market access capabilities
Qualifications
Required:
- 8- 12 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech market access, with leadership in payer and population-based strategy
- Demonstrated ability to shape access strategy across multiple stakeholder types (payers, providers, IDNs, government) with measurable outcomes
- Deep expertise in U.S. healthcare systems, including how population-level decisions are made, influenced, and operationalized
- Proven experience leading senior client engagements and driving cross-functional strategy across Strategy, Medical, and Creative teams
- Strong track record developing strategic frameworks and content platforms that inform value communication and access decisions
Desired:
- Experience integrating population health, value-based care, or organized customer strategy into market access approaches
- Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MPH, or equivalent) with application to market access or health economics
- Experience in a healthcare communications or agency environment supporting multiple biopharma clients or portfolios or experience working in biopharma in the market access setting
- Familiarity with specialty pharmacy, IDNs, and government payer dynamics across therapeutic areas
- Experience contributing to new business, thought leadership, or innovation in market access strategy
- Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done
