About Our Medical Craft

As the single largest medical team integrated across a single agency, the Medical team uncovers scientific truth through our board expertise in science and regulatory, medical strategy, medical communications, and value, access and reimbursement. The Medical team assumes responsibility for understanding the clinical aspects in depth to discover unique offerings and believes in the importance of shaping the brand-building process as early as possible: forming the scientific narrative, the language included in the label, and identifying where the brand plays in the buying process.

 Klick’s Medical Communications and Innovation team is looking for a Senior Director, Scientific Strategy - a hybrid scientific communicator and strategic leader who thrives at the intersection of deep scientific knowledge, creative engagement solutions, and client partnership.

This role is designed for a scientific strategist who is highly skilled in both scientific content development and strategic planning and is now ready to drive complex medical communications programs across therapeutic areas. As a senior leader on the team, you will lead cross-functional projects, guide scientific narratives that drive engagement, and play a key role in shaping how we support our clients across both medical affairs and commercial medical communications initiatives.

Scientific Strategy and Communication

  • Serve as strategic lead across large-scale client engagements, owning the development and evolution of scientific communications strategy
  • Develop and guide the creation of high-science, insight-driven content platforms, engagement strategies, and medical narratives
  • Maintain subject matter fluency across multiple therapeutic areas, quickly distilling complex data and trends into strategic insights
  • Partner with senior writers and scientific strategists to oversee the scientific integrity, clarity, and strategic alignment of deliverables

Innovation and Thought Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional ideation and strategic solutioning sessions to explore and design novel medical engagement tactics
  • Author proactive point-of-view (POV) pieces, landscape assessments, and strategic frameworks that inform internal thinking and client approaches
  • Collaborate with peers across medical writing, activation, creative, and analytics to develop and refine Klick’s innovation in medical communications

Client Engagement and Partnership

  • Act as a trusted senior advisor to clients, providing guidance on strategic direction, scientific storytelling, and content prioritization
  • Design and lead medical strategy sessions, workshops, and advisory board engagements with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Build and maintain high-trust relationships with client teams, contributing to long-term strategic planning and organic growth opportunities

Team Leadership and Mentorship

  • Provide strategic mentorship and coaching to junior and mid-level team members, supporting their development in both scientific content and client-facing strategy
  • Contribute to resource planning, team structure, and culture as we scale our high-performing team of medical communications professionals

Business Development

  • Lead or co-lead scientific strategy for new business proposals and pitch presentations
  • Identify and help shape growth opportunities within existing accounts through innovative program design and strategic counsel

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a medical communications or medical education agency
  • Deep understanding of both strategic and tactical medical communications deliverables (e.g., scientific platforms, advisory boards, content planning, congress support, KOL mapping)
  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas and adaptability to learn new areas quickly
  • PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred
  • Strong presence and communication skills with demonstrated ability to lead client-facing engagements
  • A passion for innovation and thought leadership in medical communications
  • Enthusiasm for integrating AI and emerging technologies into the scientific strategy and engagement process
