Job Description

The Senior Legal Counsel will serve as a key employment law advisor across Klick’s offices and jurisdictions, with a focus on practical, business-aligned legal guidance. This role will partner closely with People Practices, Finance, Operations, and Legal & Contracts teams to manage employment risk, support compliance, and strengthen internal legal frameworks. The role will also support general corporate and contracting matters as Klick continues to grow.

What You’ll Do

  • Advise People Practices and business leaders on employment law matters, including workplace policies, employment agreements, accommodations, terminations, and compliance requirements
  • Develop employment law frameworks, templates, and internal guidance to improve consistency and reduce legal exposure across Klick offices
  • Partner with People Practices, Finance, and Operations to identify employment risk and support practical, compliant business decisions
  • Support general corporate and commercial contracting matters, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, licensing agreements, and vendor negotiations
  • Manage external counsel on specialized employment matters, including strategy, timelines, costs, and outcomes

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7–10 years of legal experience with significant employment and labor law experience across advisory, compliance, policy, and workplace matters
  • Juris Doctor, LLB, or equivalent legal degree with active bar admission in at least one Canadian or U.S. jurisdiction
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior stakeholders on employment agreements, terminations, accommodations, workplace policies, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional employment matters across Canada and/or the U.S., with examples of cross-border legal guidance or external counsel management
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation experience across commercial agreements such as MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, licensing agreements, or vendor contracts

Desired:

  • Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done
  • Experience providing employment law counsel in a professional services, agency, healthcare, or life sciences environment
  • Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. employment standards, provincial labor codes, and cross-border employment considerations
  • Knowledge of privacy and data protection law, including PIPEDA or U.S. state privacy statutes, as related to employee data
  • Experience advising on executive compensation, equity arrangements, internal audits, employment training, or M&A-related employment matters
  • Interest in legal technology, contract automation, and AI-assisted legal research tools

The base salary range for this position is between CAD $150,000 - $180,000. The final amount offered will be determined based on several factors such as a candidate's work location, their unique skill set, education, and prior work experience.
