Job Description

The Associate Director, Scientific Strategy is a role within the Medical Communications & Innovation Craft, blending advanced medical writing expertise with growing responsibility in scientific strategy. This role independently leads complex scientific content development while contributing to strategic planning for medical affairs and commercial initiatives. Reporting to a senior strategy leader, the Associate Director collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver integrated, compliant, and insight-driven medical communications solutions across therapeutic areas.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop scientifically robust deliverables including scientific platforms, manuscripts, slide decks, training materials, and digital medical content aligned with client objectives.
  • Conduct high-level literature reviews using scientific databases and referencing tools to synthesize complex clinical data into clear, strategic narratives.
  • Lead development of project briefs and guide cross-functional teams (Strategy, Creative, Medical, Client Services) in executing medical communications initiatives.
  • Support strategic and tactical planning for advisory boards, workshops, and medical engagement initiatives in collaboration with senior strategists.
  • Serve as a scientific partner to clients by presenting content and strategic recommendations, contributing to proposal development, and identifying opportunities for account growth.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in a medical communications or medical education agency environment, with demonstrated ownership of complex deliverables.
  • Proven ability to independently develop scientific content such as scientific platforms, manuscripts, slide decks, and advisory board materials across multiple therapeutic areas.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews and synthesizing clinical data into accurate, audience-appropriate narratives using scientific databases and referencing tools.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to strategic planning initiatives such as advisory boards, workshops, or tactical planning sessions.
  • Evidence of client-facing experience, including presenting scientific materials and responding to feedback in meetings or workshops.

Desired:

  • Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) with strong foundational training in biomedical sciences.
  • Experience contributing to new business proposals, pitch presentations, or thought leadership materials such as POVs or trend analyses.
  • Experience mentoring junior medical writers or reviewing content to ensure scientific accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Interest in evolving into a broader scientific strategy leadership role within a medical communications agency setting.

Additional Information

This posting is for a newly created role at Klick.

The base salary range for this position is between CAD $125,000 - $150,000. The final amount offered will be determined based on several factors such as a candidate’s work location, their unique skill set, education, and prior work experience.
