Job Details

This position leads market access/payer strategy, planning, and content development for our clients. This individual is expected to be a content expert possessing knowledge of payer space (commercial and government), specialty retail, retail, wholesalers, integrated health systems, disease state, category, product science, market and competition. The VP, Content Expert partners with the broader account team to ensure success through growth and retention of accounts, achievement of client brand metrics, account profitability, and cross-selling of other Peregrine Market Access pillars.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops solid working relationships with clients across all marketing levels and is able to leverage these relationships to grow the business
  • Partners with client in identifying market access and payer opportunities and strategic vision in collaboration with cross-functional team of creative, medical strategy, and account services; challenges any activity, thinking, or approach that is inconsistent with the client's vision of the market access space as well as the brand positioning
  • Demonstrates solid partnerships with other areas of the agency to produce great work. This includes the broader account team, creative, medical services, and project management teams. Understands the roles of each functional area
  • Engages in content development, closely partnering with market access writer and medical writer to ensure strategic and tactical excellence
  • Facilitates communication internally and externally with appropriate levels and functional areas to ensure comprehensive market access knowledge base of all parties required to lead and manage brands
  • Develops processes to quickly research unfamiliar topics associated with new agency assignments to uncover relevant facts and insights then bring the rest of the team up to speed
  • Establishes industry-leading best practices and market access space knowledge for quality of work and client services, motivates team to achievement and celebrates successes through team and individual recognition and rewards
  • Develops a solid knowledge of Peregrine Market Access solutions, resources, and processes to support cross-selling of other Peregrine pillar offerings and the creates comprehensive solutions to clients’ market access marketing challenges
  • Participates in new business activities and pitches as needed
  • Leverages industry relationships to generate new business leads
  • Supports agency decisions regarding management issues/policies and clearly directs staff in a positive and team-focused manner
  • Possesses the ability to lead teams in the absence of positional authority
  • Promotes continual learning and mentors personnel to ensure enhancement of knowledge base and insights
  • Actively embraces, promotes, and educates personnel regarding the agency's values and its roles in helping achieve business objectives

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, PharmD, RPh, or advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturer market access experience in a marketing or sales function, at least 5 of which are in a senior management capacity or
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant market access agency experience, with at least 3 years as an account director or higher level
  • Experience working on any of the following: market access pharmaceutical marketing including launches, market development, market research, value/cost message development. Brand launches, healthcare professional marketing, or consumer marketing
  • Knowledge of payer space (commercial and government), specialty retail, retail, wholesalers, integrated health systems, disease state, category, product science, market and competition
  • Successful track record of sales and brand stewardship

  • Industry knowledge: Maintains solid command of pharmaceutical industry trends and direction as well as the latest marketing and communication techniques available to continually grow our business and offer the latest solutions
  • Space expertise: Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the market access and payer landscape across a broad range of therapeutic areas and can understand and interpret marketing, scientific, medical, and economic material
  • Critical thinking: Demonstrates sound judgement and resourcefulness to problem solve for optimal resolution
  • Content ideation and creation: Develops ideas for tactics and initiatives directed toward market access customers. Plays a lead role in creating marketing materials and presentations for clients
  • Leadership skills: Leads by example and approaches the vice president role as a pivotal role in helping the organization to reach its potential, thus demonstrating an organizational view of work vs an individual view. Acts with a high level of professionalism, integrity and unquestionable ethics at all times
  • Teamwork: Understands the impact of one's actions on others, seeks to keep team informed and maximizes the power of working together
  • Brand management: Has a solid approach to managing client brands from the agency's role in brand development, marketing implementation and life cycle management
  • Client management: Develops solid working partnerships with a variety of clients while also fostering relationships between other team members and the client
  • Business management: Helps the cross-functional team understand business metrics, including project estimates, utilization, management of workflow, and quality
