User Experience Director (Toronto)

Are you obsessed with User Experience Design? Do you find yourself evaluating every website and mobile app you use? Are you passionate about leading a team of capable UXers to new heights? If so, you could be the next UX Director to join the team here at Klick.

Our team is responsible for putting (digital) pen to (digital) paper and bringing to life the solutions Klick delivers. That means we get inspired by conducting customer research, working closely with clients, and collaborating with internal teams to create awesome digital experiences across websites, applications, and mobile apps.

I’m looking for a Director-level UXer to join my team immediately. In the role, you’ll provide UX thought leadership, identifying clients’ business objectives and help shape how users interact with their brands. You’ll be crafting research strategies and design approaches, while putting the customer in the center of everything you do.

In addition to client-facing deliverables, you’ll be managing and mentoring a team of talented UXers and ensure their careers are growing and the work they deliver is top-quality.

Of course, you’ll still get your hands dirty at the project level by conducting UX research, creating sitemaps, detailed wireframes, diagrams and clickable prototypes – whatever is necessary to communicate solutions and give our clients an awesome experience. You’ll then help see projects through to completion, from creative ideation to development to launch.

Along with leading and delivering best-in-class UX design work, you’ll be expected to educate clients and colleagues on the benefits of UX service offerings and generating opportunities to expand UX’s footprint within your portfolios.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

A tangible and infectious passion for designing extraordinary user-centric experiences
Proven ability to lead UX design work while encouraging collaboration across internal and external teams
Ability to mentor and confidently delegate to UX practitioners on your team
Advanced information architecture and interface/interaction design skills
Awesome presentation skills with a natural ability to inspire confidence both internally and in front of clients
Strong track record of organizing, facilitating and reporting on UX research
Deep understanding of underlying web technologies and usability principles across desktop, touch, and mobile platforms
Hands-on experience with Axure, Visio, or similar prototyping tool
Proven experience organizing and facilitating UX activities such as experience mapping and usability testing
HCI training would be an asset
8-10+ years of relevant UX-focused experience
