Medical Strategist

The Medical Strategist provides creative, medical, and strategic directions for all existing projects and new business proposals. He/she helps guide marketing and medical strategy for select agency brands, assures medical/scientific accuracy of all creative work, and serves as a content consultant for Account, Planning, and Creative. The position has an important role in new business, working closely with the senior agency management, together with designated teams, to create winning presentations and to brand the science of emerging products.

Provide and Set Standards for Scientific Acumen:

  • Provides content expertise for all agency-held brands
  • Educates agency teams on science and clinical content of materials
  • Attends planning and start-up meetings to offer strategic and scientific input
  • Defines content of promotional materials
  • Helps to direct messages and content flow
  • Reviews content from medical/scientific/strategic perspective
  • Assures message accuracy and consistency
  • Ensures medical downloads for Creative and Account on the science and marketing of products for new business pitches are at right level and productive

Expanding the Business:

  • Supports unification helping to grow existing agency accounts with medical offerings
  • Ensure internal teams understand the value of medical and integrate medical in all activities
  • Plays an lead role in new business acquisition and development for the agency
  • Participates in RFP preparation as needed
  • Reviews and ensures medical section of new business presentations meet or exceed agency standards
  • Contributes to proposals for incremental business building
  • Develops and maintains excellent client relationships on said brands, especially on the medical side, and earns trust and respect of client counterparts
  • Effectively represents scientific work to clients

Experience:

  • Ability to lead
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and adept at the art of persuasion
  • Strong presence with ability to moderate a group of strong individuals
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Understanding of marketing principles
  • 10 years or more of relevant industry experience with at least 4 years pharmaceutical advertising AOR experience
  • PhD, MD, or PharmD
