Engagement Manager

We are hiring an Engagement Manager in Chicago. As an Engagement Manager, you will own one or more client relationships across multiple portfolios, all while running a team of program managers and project managers. Your focus will be in partnership with the Group Account Director to make sure that the client experience is flawless and with guidance from the Program Director to grow and mentor your group of PMs to ensure project execution meets all deadline and financial requirements. With the help of your team you will demonstrate Klick’s capabilities to the client in an effort to drive further growth in the portfolios while working closely with your team to implement or improve processes to support execution. Relationships will be key. You will be expected to form solid, trusting relationships with the client as well as the discipline leads to establish trust and seamlessly facilitate client meetings or internal escalations. You will need to juggle key client decisions, financial metrics, all with the softer side of people management.


  • Creates a partner relationship with GAD to find efficiencies, as well as maintain and grow the business
  • Help drive further growth within a portfolio by supporting opportunities which demonstrate Klick’s capabilities
  • Coach PCs/PMs/Sr PMs to propose solutions and approaches directly to leads/clients/vendors
  • Leads brand planning process, engages with brand strategy and production leads as necessary, understands business reasons for certain decision, while creating ballparks and vetting numbers where necessary with PDs
  • Maintain the Budget Control Report, ensure invoices match the BCR and ensure the context is captured in our internal systems
  • Ensure invoices are proactively sent out and leads client financials discussions
  • Demonstrate awareness of multiple portfolio metrics against defined division targets, and clearly understands the impact decisions have on metrics
  • Brings the client POV to the table when solutioning as client issues arise. Takes the lead in client communications
  • Effectively facilitates escalated meetings with team leads and choreographs client meetings


  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and coaches the team to build their own relationships with clients and client teams (ie. IT, MLR, etc)
  • Demonstrate evidence-based thinking by leveraging previous experience when providing ballparks costs and communicating about timeline implications regarding scope
  • Work with PM team to ensure risk on all projects has been identified and is being actively managed
  • Serves as an escalation point and works with production leads to resolve issues whenever needed. Knows how to frame the conversation with the client when discussing any issues that arise


  • 7+ years of project management experience
  • 2-4 years of portfolio and people management experience (or demonstrable skills / aptitude to do so)
  • 2 years of owning client relationship and managing their expectations (or demonstrable skills / aptitude to do so)
  • Experience in marketing communications, including print or digital
  • CRM, software development, digital / interactive and/or new media projects are considered but not mandatory
  • Agency experience and marketing sector experience in health, pharma, biotech, or medical device are of considerable benefit
  • Certifications considered but not mandatory
